Lilies for Brandy

My daughter who is an extraordinary amateur decorator, asked me to do a painting for her. She was looking for a simple yet elegant painting of Cala lilies. I found this project exciting and I enjoyed the simplicity and elegance of it. I also tremendously enjoyed seeing my daughter, son and grand daughter, being able to be there when Brandy graduated from this phase of her college degree was a something that I was so honored to be a part of. I am so very proud of my smart, beautiful daughter who is becoming such a wonderful woman. Brandy, I love you.

Kentucky River Keeper Spring/ Summer show

Elliott County Watering Hole

11" x 14" oil on canvas unframed original painting.

Elliott county is one of the few places in the country that still can boast having pristine springs and creeks. This painting captures a watering hole used for cattle. When I traveling around the county these watering holes are to be seen everywhere. In this painting I also wanted to capture the fog as it was dissipating for the day.

Grayson Lake

I was driving home from Grayson one sunny summer day and I took this photo from the bridge as I was crossing over, lol "yes! I was taking photos while driving" something that I am sure is not a good idea, but I feel sure that many other artists know what I am talking about. I decided to make this a one day painting on a slab of board 5 1/5" x 15" and I combined the brush with the palette knife to complete this piece.
It is sells for $200.00, it does not need a frame. It can be hung set up on an table easel.

A walk in the woods

This an original oil painting on canvas, size is 18" x 27"

In this painting, I used my skill with the palette knife and oils to transport myself back to a moment in my childhood when I would spend my time exploring the hills of Southwest Virginia. Gazing upon this painting I find that the smells and sounds of those woods come back to me. I smell the musty earthiness of the layers upon layers of decaying leaves; I hear and feel the crunch beneath my feet while listening to the call of many different birds singing their own unique songs. In the distance I hear the babbling of a nearby creek and I smile knowing in my soul that this was a precious moment in my time on this wondrous earth, a time to be cherish.

Along the Catawba

This painting was one of my first plein aire works. It was a hot Carolina day along the river with other artist friends. It was one of those days to cherish. Good painting and good friends. 11" x 14" oil on canvas.

View from Pilot Mountain

This is another of my paintings from my Blue Ridge series. This painting captures the essence of the lone tree on top of a ridge over looking the mountains. This painting was also completed with the palette knife.
